There exist in the country a number of excellent
national agencies such as the Geological Survey
of India, the Mineral Exploration Corporation,
the National Remote Sensing Agency, the National
Geophysical Research Institute and the Indian
Bureau of Mines, all of whom have generated
high quality geological databases. These are
accessible commercially, and provide a strong
base on which to commence exploration programmes.
In addition to the Government Agencies, the
Federation of Indian Mining Industries, (FIMI),
is a privately funded peak body formed of companies
engaged in the exploration and mining industry.
