The Jagpura project is located in Southern
Rajasthan. This area has been subject to considerable
exploration activity over the past decade by
both the Geological Survey of India (GSI) and
Hindustan Zinc Ltd (HZL).
Current knowledge indicates that this exciting
and emerging new gold district has attributes
that allow comparisons with other major, Lower
Proterozoic gold provinces around the world,
e.g. Telfer (Western Australia), Homestake (USA),
and Pilgrims Rest (South Africa). It is considered
to have the potential to become a very large
gold project, based on a series of open pit mineable
deposits.
The tenements fall
within the prospective, Lower Proterozoic Aravalli
Supergroup rocks in the Banswara District. These
are shown in Figures 1 and 2 and comprise:
- A granted (RP), Jagpura (207km2);
- A PL application,
Bhukia (7.35km2);
- An RP application, Jagpura
North (655km2), that has been recommended
for approval by the State government. This
application has been forwarded to the Federal
government for its approval, which is expected
within the next few months;
- An RP application,
Salumbar (478km2); and
- An RP application,
Amarthun (795km2).
When fully granted the current project area
will cover in excess of 70 km of strike of an
exciting, newly disclosed gold province, occupying
some 2,135 km2.
